Drowning in a Sea of Heat and Despair

Hades felt the ground shake as the alligator rushed forward and the loud angry hissing hurt his ear holes.  He visibly winced and shook his head a bit, still grumpy but realizing that he had to back off just enough to not get eaten by the much larger creature.  But the cobra was still himself, which meant that he did make stupid mistakes quite often.  This was one of those times as he faced the larger reptile and raised his head while opening his hood.  "And you know nothing of me so please go on and eat me!  Put me out of this miserable life!  Go on... eat...me!"  He lowered his fangs, about to strike when he started laughing, retracted his fangs once more, closed his hood, and lowered his head to start slithering away again.  "I didn't think so... I would never get that lucky, now would I?"

Once he was a few feet away from the alligator, Hades raised his head and pointed his nose towards the scent of the creature in the tree.  "I've never heard of an Aye-Aye.  You sound weird, no offense.  And I do not eat things that I do not already know what they look like, I was not always blind.  And no, you are not getting that story either.  As far as finding water, I'm perfectly fine, I used to live in the desert and there are plenty of mice and rabbits running about... well maybe not here.  But...whatever, if you are leaving, then I shall go too.  As long as trees don't pop out of the ground like daises.  Or rocks don't turn into trolls.  Or..."  Hades kept talking and rambling to himself, deciding to start slithering away.  If he was going the wrong direction then he would just turn around when the Aye-Aye finally decided to leave the tree.  The thing had a specific scent, that was for sure.  "Oh and another thing, I don't need your help with anything!"  That was clearly not the case and his case had no weight or truth behind it because of the fact that both creatures had literally just watched him bump into a tree.  Hades lifted his head and rolled his head dramatically (his version of an eye rolling), "Stupid tree..."

The black Indian cobra decided to simply slither in a circle and kept going in an increasingly larger circle until he heard responses from his new companions. He once again stopped to raise his head, nose pointed towards the scent and sound of the alligator speaking, ”Excuse me, I literally just asked you to eat me! Yet you still have not done so, so whose luck has run out now, eh? I knew you would not have the guts to do so. Plus my venom would most likely kill you if you ingested me anyway. So, let’s agree to let bygones by bygones, shall we?”

Hades then turned back to the Aye-Aye and shook his head in bewilderment, ”You have obviously never seen trolls…. They are butt ugly and are terrifying!” Of course it was matter of opinion and imagination on if one thought trolls really existed or not. His head flinched back and in an irritable tone replied, ”And I do not appreciate that mongoose comment… they are scary too…” Hades lowered his head at the thought of having to fight a mongoose with no sight. He shuddered just thinking about it. As Carien continued to speak to him, he mulled over the offer in his mind. ”I guess I could give it a try… I do tend to attract others who have no self-preservation or concept of irritable blind venomous cobra who wish to travel with me, so sure, let’s see how this goes.”

No sooner had he completed the statement did he scent and feel a much larger creature come up on them. Seriously, this dude was massive and Hades instantly found himself shrinking away. The crocodile’s words were absolutely hilarious to the cobra who burst out laughing and writhing on the ground. After several moments of laughter, Hades drew himself up in a guesstament of how high the crocodile’s head might be and said (in between laughter), ”Wait a second…. Wait… wait.. wait… You mean to tell me that… that you are taking the three of us as hostages? How exactly? The alligator is small yes but you both are out of the water. The aye-aye is in a TREE.” Hades opened his hood and lowered his fangs, venom already dripping in his sudden fury, ”And you just pissed me the fuck off! Give me two, maybe three bites and you’re dying as you are trying to keep up with little old me.” He hissed and swayed his head back, ready to strike. ”Only I get to make fun of my own sight impairment! And only I get to make fun or jokes about my new two traveling companions!”

Hades was about to strike the crocodile when the alligator spoke up. The cobra immediately shifted his position and turned his nose towards the alligator’s scent, ”Are you crazy!? He just said “I don’t know if you folk have a choice” and you are still willing to go with him? What is wrong with you!?” Hades slithered in a circle of annoyance, ”We are NOT going with you, crocodile.” The black cobra was secretly quivering in fright. He had just stood his ground in front of a beast who could kill him with one bite. And to top it off, Hades thought he might have just insulted the beast too AND the alligator… maybe the aye-aye could share her tree? He wondered if he could even get up there. He also silently hoped that she would build off of his threat and help them out of this mess. She was already doing a great job with the healing thing, very creative if anyone bothered to ask him. Maybe traveling with the aye-aye would be good for him...if they managed to get out of this mess alive anyway.
